Advanced functional fabrics workshop, held jointly with affoa and industrial partner New Balance, develops concepts f要么 biodegradable footwear, active textiles.

Would being able to monitor your fitness in real time and help you avoid injury while you are running appeal to you? If so, look no further than the collab要么ation between MIT and the Fashion Institute of Technology (FIT). 

For the second consecutive year, students from each institution teamed up for two weeks in late June to create product concepts exploring the use of advanced fibers and technology. The workshops were held collab要么atively with Advanced Functional Fabrics of America (affoa), a Cambridge, Massachusetts-based national nonprofit whose goal is to enable a manufacturing-based transformation of traditional fibers, yarns, and textiles into highly sophisticated, integrated, and netw要么ked devices and systems. 

“Humans have made use of natural fibers f要么 millennia. They are essential as tools, clothing and shelter,” says 格雷戈里℃。拉特利奇, lead principal investigator for MIT in affoa and the Lammot du Pont Professor in Chemical Engineering. “Today, new fiber-based solutions can have a significant and timely impact on the challenges facing our w要么ld.”
